Duncan D. Hunter Congressional Campaign Leads Race for Funds
La Mesa, CA – In spite of the fact that their candidate is serving his country 8000 miles away, the Duncan D. Hunter for Congress campaign announced today that they are leading all challengers in the race for campaign funds, according to campaign reports filed yesterday with the Federal Elections Commission.
The Hunter for Congress committee has raised $170,730 this year – all of it while Duncan D. Hunter, a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, has been serving in Afghanistan.
“The outpouring of financial support for Captain Hunter’s campaign has been amazing,” said Hunter campaign consultant Dave Gilliard. “To raise this much money without our candidate being able to make a single phone call, is a real testimony to the work of Duncan’s wife, Margaret and the entire campaign team. Everyone is working very hard to make sure Duncan can hit the ground running when he returns home later this year.”
The 52nd Congressional District has been represented by Congressman Duncan Hunter since his election in 1980. Congressman Hunter is seeking the Republican nomination for President and has announced he will not run for reelection to the House of Representatives in 2008. His son, Captain Duncan D. Hunter, announced his candidacy shortly before being activated earlier this year for his third tour of duty with the USMC since the terror attacks of September 11, 2001.
